Newtypes are born with better control over mobile. suits. Its kinda like how i can hand grandma and grandpa's @$$ to them in a bag at a video game they've been playing for years, and i just started,or how kindergardeners are reading fifth and sixth grade books when we were reading learning how to read for dummies. With each generation the pilots get better, like evolution, and ,kinda like mutants, some do this rapidly. these are called newtypes and are much better pilots then average joe over there. Screw u average joe I'm going home !!!

newtypes, called coordinaters in gundam SEED, are people who have been living in space for a few generations and now get abilities that normal humans dont. they vary a lot. its not if one person is a better newtype that is is better at everything.
amuro has great abilities that allow him to react far faster than normal humans, but that is just a faster reaction time. other abilities are telecommunication, forsight, etc.
they mainly have to do with the mind, but anyone who is genetically enhanced generally get better physical attributes as well, lie being stronger.
the downside to being a newtype is that you have less control over your emotions, especially if you were a normal human who became a newtype due to gene altering. But this is only another trait that varies a lot. Char has pretty good control over his emotions, but Quess doesnt. I dont know or care if you know these characters because i cant think up examples right now.
other powers include having your spirit hang around after you die. but this is rare

I thought the coordinaters in seed were cybernetically enhanced i didn't know that it was hereditary (i am usually travelling saturday night or i am working on something for sunday)

No, no, no. They are genetically enhanced.
They have all these super cool, super traits that make them 'better' than a natural, due to their increased physical and mental ability. It's hereditary just like hair color or body type. Your parent has it, you get some of it.

Ok so back to what enoch said about how long your family has been in space how does that effect the genetic structre?

Uhh... well. Lemme put it like this. Newtypes are all [relatively] in space. The number of generations your newtype family has been in space means that they have been having children for that many years. I believe, that means that you are a first, second, third, etc. generation Newtype. The later your generation is, the better you are. I think. You may need to look that one up.

pretty much, yeah.
the longer your in space, the more powers you have. but even so being the newtype is rare. it is hereditary, os your kids have it to

If you spend long amounts of time in space (or your gundam) can't you start to sorta evole into a better pilot (newtype) to stay alive.I mean i know after a few genorations you can become a newtype but what about the first few?Is it entirely impossible for them to become newtypes or what?

no it has got to start somewhere so i think they slowly change with hardly noticable gifts and with each generation it becomes more pronounced i think

Yeah. Sort of. I think that each person has these 'almost-unique' gifts, just like every person has an 'almost-unique' gift, such as making people laugh easily, or writing good poetry. Each talent/gift isn't found in everyone, but that doesn't mean that other people don't have them either.
I don't think you can evolve into a newtype by yourself, just floating around in space. I believe its a genetic thing, and you have to have the gene in order to be a newtype. It's like getting blue eyes from your father. If newtypes just evolved from non-newtypes, wouldn't that be like getting hazel eyes from a purely green eyed family?
Or maybe the gene lays recessively, and it is awakened after a certain amount of time spent in space. I really have no idea. Half of this is strictly speculation.

So what you are sayng is that i was right when i said ur gifts slowly become more pronounced the longer you are in space and if so what if a fmily moved back to earth for a couple of generations and then gp back into space does the process start over or does it just keep going or is it mabey se back a little and again i ask how does being in space affect it

....when i said ur gifts slowly become more pronounced the longer you are in space and if so what if a fmily moved back to earth for a couple of generations and then gp back into space does the process start over or does it just keep going or is it mabey se back a little and again... I don't know the answer to the question. What I think it may be is that the gene is hereditary ( I don't know where it would originate from), and space might not affect it at all. Like I said. Look it up.
