(It hasn't been three months so i can post here HAH) Okay i've been meaning to post here, but never got to it till now. What the hell does being in space have to do with becoming a better pilot? When you say that the reason they get better is that they are in space, it couldn't be because of the hereditary maritrial, because they live under carefuly controlled enviorments.I mean its not like they are adapting to a new enviorment , because in the colonies where people live they want the conditions to be the same as what they are used to, earth. Sure in a military base, the gravity is lower and so are other conditions because the military either can't offord, or works better with no gravity, but what they hell does that have to do with your piloting ablilities several people might condem me for this, but in my opinion tha part about the newtype looks like they did it when they where on crack (if im wrong because as i said unless your conditions changew you do not change majorly.

they probably were on crack when they id it. other than being in space i dont know of any other explanation. remember, the original series was made in 1979 so this was just the scifi of its time. i think they kept with it because it was a good way to fit into one of the main "themes" of the gundam series, where a kid pilots a gundam and is really good. if it werent for his newtype abilities, amuro would suck. (and he has a good ms, but char would have kicked his ass )
yes, living in space is not too different from living on earth. there is artificial gravity, air, water, houses, and is pretty much just like another planet, except that the hangars are zero gravity, but for the sake of the argument who cares.
notice how they somewhat took the whole thing out completely in gundam wing, and only thing that came close was the zero system, which was like the biosensor from Zeta gundam. the pilots in this series were just good at what they did from training.
and SEED takes a different aproach, they say the people are genetically engineered (which they also had in the early UC series too) so that is why they are better and have powers, etc.
we kinda let both slide in this rpg, except that the spacenoids are far more likely to genetically alter someone than the earthnoids. in either case, its rare to have newtypes and genetically altered people in this rpg
newtypes are rare to begin with, and genetically altering people is a pain in the ass, so its not exactly dont too often. in SEED it was hereditary, but you cant always have it so the good genes get passed on
(you can have a really high chance when you talk about "terminator genes" or retrovirus', )
so yes, its bullcrap, thats why its scifi, (without the sci)
but they do go into explicit detail on some issues about the differences between spacenoids and earthnoids.
for example, look at 8th ms team. it clearly shows that since spacenoids in colonies are more used to low gravity, they grow taller than earth humans.
the main character with the blue hair (whatever his name was) is about normal height.
the woman he likes (platinum/silver hair, zeon test pilot) is a head shorter than the other spacenoids when she is walking aroud them i the ballroom
she is about the same height as the main character, so the spacenoids are generally a head or so taller than the earthnoids
