Well. I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote this, but I did. Today, I was cleaning out My Docs, and I found this relic. Anyone can have it if they want. Just gimme a cut of the credit, and tell me in this thread.

Wing Commander
Prologue
Lasers shot sporadically in every direction. I suddenly tensed up as adrenaline pumped through my veins, and the Cal Ruuia fleet returned fire upon us. The carrier cruiser shuddered from the impact of enemy ion cannons. All the Imperial fleet was ordered to launch nukes into the opposition’s lines before commencing evasive maneuvers.
I gripped my flight controls as tight as my hands could as I waited for the designated launch time in my Longsword fighter. Why was an experienced pilot like me nervous? I suppose there’s reason to be nervous; you’re risking your life for the Earth and Lunar Colony’s peace, and helping the Imperium of Earth to crush the Cal Ruuia rebellions. But maybe, I was right to be nervous that day, the day my life changed forever…….
Chapter 1
“Ivey, get on deck now!” the Chief Commander called to me, “Suit up and get in yer Longsword!”
“Uh… o.k., be there in three, sir!” I slurred dizzily.
I stepped out of my cryogenic chamber and peered out of the window of the 32nd Outpost in the Brazilian rainforest. My heart dropped, as there was only bad news in sight. At least two infantry brigades of Cal Ruuia rebels were marching up a mountain on a patrol mission. If they discover the Outpost, I thought, the recon mission would have been useless. And at that thought I rushed off to the hangar in my blue flight suit.
The outpost hangar was in organized chaos. Mech droids, pilots, and maintenance workers scrambled about the hangar worriedly. The hangar was dark, worn silver, and could hold roughly 300 Longswords. I weaved in and out of all the ships until I until I got to my own fighter; Longsword 04. I entered the pass code as the hatch slid open. I hopped inside and cut my fighter on standby mode as I manually safety-checked all components of the ship. I was double checking my nav computer when the loudspeaker boomed.
“All Longsword Fighters prepare to launch in T minus 30 seconds.”
And at those words, the whole fleet was airborne. The pack of metallic grey fighters glistened in the sun as we flew off to combat.
“Approaching combat zone in 47 seconds and counting 04,” commanded Gold Leader, “turn all fighters into combat mode, and let’s make this one quick!”
Gold Leader’s voice carried the tint of arrogance, but I shook the thought away. Before I knew it, the Cal Ruuia infantry brigade had fired heavy rounds into our formation. My squad’s Beta formation was now looking more like Swiss cheese, as they were being plucked off by the second.
“Shi-….,” Gold Leader sputtered, “I’m goin’ down! Need……help…can’t take any...”
I waited a few seconds, only to hear the radio’s roaring silence in my ear. Adjusted my external camera and saw the blossoms of fire that marked my comrade’s death. The searing rose of fire instilled a crimson hate of Cal Ruuia rebels. A bone-crushing infantry rocket shook be back to reality.
“Damage report!” I shouted to the nav droid.
All that was heard were its inaudible clicks as it streamed the information into my HUD. The report showed the right wing was on by a thread, the right stabilizer was disabled, and the hull was punctured. For a minute, I thought of returning back to the Outpost, but thought better of it. I wouldn’t let down my comrades on my second mission. A second shock brought my fighter into a tree. I guess that thud was my damage report. Man, I don’t even wanna see the damage that one did.
I heard the habitual clicks and beeps of the Nav droid and a slow hissing sound from behind me. The sound took a second to register, but when it did I popped the hatch open and walked away from the ship. Rocket fuel gushed out of the engine. That’s not good. Jeez, I’ll need to patch up the leak and replace the lost fuel. Might as well see what the Rebels are doing around here.
Outside, I heard something resembling screams, wait, no…. battle cries! The shouts gave me the reminder to draw my pistol. I started to walk and survey the damage that the cannon inflicted to my ship. The bad news was the right wing was bent towards the deck and the right stabilizer had a two by three blast mark on it and was crushed inward. The good new was, I could salvage the parts I needed from a Rebel fighter.
After I decided to leave my ship I set off to see about my fallen comrade’s ship. After all, I could take the parts from that ship to repair mine and contact HQ about the little run in with the Rebs. In the back of my mind, I really hoped that the right wing and the stabilizer were intact.
When I arrived at the wreck, parts of his ship were completely destroyed and other pieces were strewn around the clearing. About 30 meters away was also a makeshift Rebel bomb shelter. At that moment, they weren’t there, so I started to raid the area for necessary provisions.
As I walked through a series of tents, I brought my pistol up to head level, incase anyone offered resistance. I found one food ration, two grenades, a sniper rifle, and a very strange power cell. This thing must be to a sort of fighter. A Rapier perhaps? No, it looks to exotic. What does this thing go to? I made a mental note of the odd power cell, loaded it all on to a gravsled, and started to leave. It had been about an hour, and the Rebs might come back. Well, maybe I should stick around a bit longer. Ambushing the Rebs would be a great way to payback the Rebels for killing my comrade. With a demonic grin, I hid in the brush and put some grenades in a pile in the middle of the clearing. Next to it, I placed three crates of gunpowder. If all went well, well, let’s just say they would be in for a surprise. I laid down behind some tall reeds and waited….
Chapter 2
“Almost,” I goaded the rebels, “A little closer. Closer…”
They were in the sights of my sniper scope, but they weren’t near the boxes. Some anxious part of me longed to just pull the trigger of the gun, just to startle the rebels. It seemed like a perfect prank, but I might pay with my life. I loaded up the rifle and scoped out the heap of explosives.
My heart was racing and my adrenaline pumped through my veins as I waited for the victims to come into the blast proximity. Come on! Ah! Forget it! I squeezed the trigger and closed my eyes. The rifle’s recoil was unexpectedly strong, which threw me back a foot or two. Then, the ground trembled from the explosion. The light that came from the explosion was blinding and the heat was searing. I risked a glance at the clearing after a couple seconds had passed. Several trees were on fire, and others were totally demolished.
When the heat relented and the small chain explosions stopped, I gazed at the aftermath in awe. All the Rebels were disintegrated and the tents and trees were no more. I allowed myself to smile at all the damage I had inflicted on a Rebel camp, and then searched for the gravsled, or what was left of it. There were shards and pieces of the sled everywhere, but the High-Impact Blast Paneling of the ship parts was still intact. I dragged all the ship parts (including the exotic power cell) back to my crash site and worked on attaching the parts to my ship.
While I was mending the right stabilizer onto the ship, I caught a glint of an Imperia Star Cruiser. The vessel was as large as a small lunar base and could probably carry 1,000 various fighters. At the sight of the Imperial Crest I was relieved, but also gave a respectful salute. I fired a flare into the Cruiser’s line of sight and walked towards it. The Cruiser made a quarter turn and deployed a smaller search pod to come and pick me up. The search pod landed about ten feet away from me and the lights on the pod turned from blue to green as the hatch opened with a hiss.
Two Imperial guards came out briskly and secured the perimeter, then, in a timely manner, the presumable Captain exited the pod as well. I stood at attention and looked him straight in the eye.
“At ease soldier.” He spoke calmly.
“I prefer the title ‘Pilot,’ sir!” I replied quickly. I was definitely not being confused with some stupid Marine of the Imperia.
“Sorry, about that son, but, times have gotten too urgent to worry about that. Come on board Pilot, you’ve just been recruited for the Imperia Elite Division 07.” At those words I knew my life was about to be turned upside down.
“You can’t be serious, sir!?” The Imperia Elite is already a crazy sect., but Division 07?? They’re the notorious Head-First into Hell Brigade!” The Captain couldn’t be serious. The Imperia Elite is famous for its deep-space victories, and its superior battle tactics, or was it the trademark entry into Planetary Atmosphere? Rumor has it that the 101st Brigade escaped from a black hole by use of Slipstream space travel! I had sufficient military training, but not enough to contend with the 07th Brigade.
